The Main Inn at Sugar Hollow in Charlottesville, VA

The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm was founded serendipitously by owners Dick and Hayden Cabell. Serendipity - making fortunate discoveries accidentally. It was serendipity and their love of the mountains that led Dick and Hayden to Sugar Hollow in the spring of 1994 when they purchased a 70-acre parcel of land, the day after it went on the market. It was soon to become the home of the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. Dick, a former manufacturing executive and Hayden, a Spanish and French teacher, decided, since their sons had graduated from college, that it was time for a career change - as Dick says, Monty Python's expression applies, "And now for something completely different!"

Dick and Hayden restored the existing 1905 farmhouse and, at the same time, built a new home in the "Virginia farmhouse" style. Both homes, the Main Inn and the Farmhouse, conveniently located near Charlottesville, VA now provide beautiful lodging accommodations for Inn guests.

Abundant and spacious common areas lure you to relax, read in private, or visit with other guests. For your computing needs, free Wi-Fi is available.

On the main level, you will enjoy our family room with natural stone fireplace and the extraordinary panoramic view of the Blue Ridge from the Palladian window.

Plan your day's adventures in the bright and airy sunroom, or play a board game in the study (with satellite TV). For added privacy, consider stealing away with your favorite novel to the reading nook off the upper foyer. Or, you may choose to relax and watch the hummingbirds cavort around their feeder on the upper deck. Of course, you'll want to fix yourself a cup of tea or hot chocolate in the butler's pantry first!

Don't be surprised if you see a deer or wild turkey wander across the pasture as you breakfast beside the large bay window in the dining room.

Of course, a full country breakfast awaits you after your restful evening. You may choose from a wide assortment of savory breakfast treats, featuring Dick's famous homemade buttermilk or pumpkin pancakes, cinnamon or confectioned French toast, varied egg specialties, seasonal fresh fruit, freshly baked muffins, piping hot country biscuits, juices, coffees, and teas.

After your meal, you'll be energized for a great day of area activities – visiting wineries or brew pubs, Monticello, enjoying antique shopping, hiking, touring, exploring the forests and streams of Sugar Hollow, or just relaxing at the Inn.
