It is always amazing to me when our deer wander up so close to the house. They must think all of of our planting are there for their enjoyment! Without the acorns this winter, they seem to be really struggling. We will see in Spring what of our plants have survived them and where we will need to just start over!
We found what may be a 200 year old graveyard out in our pasture today, tucked under some cedar trees. This stone is engraved with the year 1806 and the whole area, about 200 square feet, is surrounded by a low stone fence wall. Feels like a little part of history.
We had a touch snow in Charlottesville this morning, just a dusting and it's gone already. While I'm sure the skiing is still good in Wintergreen, it won't be long before it's truly wine sipping time on the patio at King Family Vineyard, for Thursday evening barbeques up at Stinson Vineyard, with all of those stunning views of our mountains. Can't wait! March is a beautiful time of year in Charlottesville and Virginia Wine Country so come join us!
Well, nobody appreciated the daffodils I had on the website background, but daffodils won't be denied! They are sprouting already next to the house and the first sign that our long Winter is finally over. I am impatiently waiting for these mountains to explode in the bright green of Springtime!
