Just across the road from The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm flows the Moormans River, a picturesque mountain stream with tumbling rapids and still pools. The river runs down out of The Shenandoah National Park before joining the Mechums River to form the south fork of the Rivanna River. The best fishing seasons are around April and October, or whenever there has been adequate rainfall and the trees are relatively dormant, so that the cold spring water is flowing nicely in the river.
After a very busy weekend, and with no guests staying on a Sunday night, I decided to do something we almost never get a chance to do... lock the doors, turn out the lights, and head out to enjoy some of the fun things we are always recommending to our guests! We ended up spending most of the afternoon at Mountfair Vineyards, where they were hosting their Corks & Chords event. Several acoustic guitar singer/songwriters took their turn on stage as the rest of us sat back and enjoyed the music with our bottles of wine. It was a supremely enjoyable time!
