"In all of our travels, staying only at B & B's wherever we've gone, The Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm is truly the most serene and peaceful. What a lovely respite from the crazy, fast paced lives we lead.

The Inn
Serendipity - making fortunate discoveries accidentally. It was serendipity and their love of the mountains that led Dick and Hayden Cabell to Sugar Hollow in the spring of 1994 when they purchased a 70-acre parcel of land the day after it went on the market. It was soon to become the home of the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. Dick, a former manufacturing executive and Hayden, a Spanish and French teacher, decided, since their sons had graduated from college, that it was time for a career change - as Dick says, Monty Python's expression applies, "And now for something completely different!

Dick and Hayden restored the existing 1905 farmhouse and, at the same time, built a new home in the "Virginia farmhouse" style. Both homes, the Main Inn and the Farmhouse, now provide beautiful accommodations for Inn guests.

Soft sheets, lots of pillows, cozy comforters, CD player in each room.

  • Warm, "homey" ambience with access to multiple common rooms including the sunroom, study with TV, upstairs reading nook, Great Room with view across the pasture the to the Blue Ridge. Interesting books to read, magazines to enjoy.

  • Butlers' pantries with complimentary hot and cold beverages.

  • Beautiful mountain views from every window - enjoy watching deer and wild turkey roaming the property

Outdoor Fun:

the top of the Blue Ridge.

The Farmhouse
In 1905 the Wood family built their charming family home on a 70-acre tract of land on the banks of the Moorman River in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. That friendly structure now provides additional guest accommodations for the Inn at Sugar Hollow Farm. We completely renovated the Farmhouse in 1995 and in following years made additional improvements, including adding central air conditioning to make it comfortable and enjoyable for our guests who would be staying there.

In addition to their comfortable bedrooms guests enjoy a large sitting room where TV and interesting reading materials are available. Complimentary hot and cold beverages are offered near the guest rooms. In the Main Inn, just a two-minute walk across the adjoining lawns, we serve a full country breakfast to all guests.

Our guests find that the Farmhouse has a very comfortable, cozy feel. It is almost impossible to resist settling into the old swing on the front porch for a relaxing pause.

Retreats and Conferences
The Inn was designed to accommodate retreats and conferences. Our numerous common spaces will accommodate small to medium-sized groups. The family room is arranged to provide informal meeting space for 12 to 15 people. The sunroom, study, and upstairs reading nook serve as break-out space for smaller sessions.
